It also doesn't matter if you are playing at a GP or somewhere with lots of powerful decks, since Tasigur is less of an issue than even stronger commanders like ] or ]. None of this matters if you are playing with a regular group, since they will know your deck and won't judge you simply by your commander. Well, it seems like you are trying to solve a very narrow problem. Yet, when people see you running combo supporters like ] or ], which you presumably do want to run, in a deck with Tasigur, they are going to assume that you are either a fast Doomsday deck or a big pile of infinites, since that's what Tasigur normally does with those cards. Since you don't want to run infinite combos, these commanders are much less attractive to you. These commanders save you the additional step of supplying a kill condition after you go off with something like Deadeye + ] or ] + ]. Like several other high tier competitive commanders, such as ], ], and ], his main feature is that he is an infinite mana sink in the command zone while still having good colors. He is a high tier commander as a vehicle for generic overpowered components like ], ], and ]. Of course, you can run self-mill to get more value out of her reanimate on a stick, and you might be able to do something cool with stuff like ] and ] as well.īut overall, most of these other options aren't huge amounts of "dredge" so much as other strategies that are supplemented by a self mill suite (although you could make an argument that the Sharuum Open the Vaults idea is really similar to something like Living End) so if you really wanna play Dredge, I would definitely have to recommend Sidisi. ] my General of Choice, Sharuum is a powerful Sphinx that lends herself well to a combo-control strategy running lots of artifacts. ] Likes you to have things in your graveyard but unlike most of the other generals we're discussing, will do better in a deck with a heavy number of instants and sorceries over creatures. A pretty interesting general that I don't see very often but wish I did. ] if you're not hung up on running green. Some other options for generals you might consider: She has the advantage of being a repeatable source of self-mill herself, consistent by virtue of being your commander, and you don't actually have to get too many tokens for her to be worth her mana. I've played Sidisi a few times and I have to say she's really really fun! That's what I'd recommend. I would also look in to The Gitrog Monster, even though you said you didnt want a pure golgari commander, as he probably appreciates dredge the most as a mechanic.Ī former friend of mine had (and probably still has, to be honest) a Sidisi deck. Either way, mimeoplasm is a fun reanimator commander that can alpha strike someone out of the game with a combo that isnt infinite. If infects not your thing, then the same thing can be achieved with Gaea's Revenge +Deaths Shadow on Mimeo for 21 cmdr damage minus the flying. I know from experience that the Mimeoplasm is a deck that might appreciate dredge in a more battlecruiser centric build, it likes to win by using buried alive to tutor Skithiryx the Blight Dragon plus a fattie into the grave to swing for hasty lethal infect damage. Karador is widely considered to be a combo deck that uses its graveyard for card advantage, Ive not seen him run any other way, unfortunately, but if you like his colors you could look at Teneb the Harvester decks for inspiration. Sidisi, while she is built typically as a combo deck, can make for a convincing zombie tribal deck that would appreciate dredge and jarad as includes. This video had special pro consultant Ricky of Door Monster. All three appreciate dredge synergistically, being graveyard commanders. ![]() Don’t Forget To Check Out My MTG Guide To Get Started Playing Pioneer with Izzet Phoenix here: Īll my favorite products are available via my affiliate link at It’s like a wiki for my favorite MTG items!
